Certificate Program in Occupational Optometry


Introduction:

Occupational optometry services is the branch of optometry which sets visual standards and understands the visual demands for each occupation through comprehensive ocular examination in order to provide corrections and modifications to ensure safety and high efficiency in the workplace.

Objective:

  • To understand the role of occupational optometrist in industries / unorganized sector workers
  • To estimate the visual demand required for each task / occupation
  • To elucidate the various methods to analyze the occupational demand / hazards
  • To recommend the role of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in occupational safety
  • To demonstrate proficiency in occupational dispensing

Course Details:

  • Eligibility: Bachelor of Optometry (BS / BSc in Optometry / any equivalent degree)
  • No of Seats: 12 per year
  • Duration: 3 months (Full time posted in Occupational Optometry Department at SN and in community outreach programs for unorganized sector)
  • Course Fee:
    Indian Students: Rs.30,000 + 18% GST for 3 months
    International Students: USD 600
  • Frequency: Four times a year (Jan, April, July, Oct)
  • Hostel Facility: Provided for outstation/international candidates
